President's Message - Karen Grubbs
2010 has most of us off to a running start! Are your involvements providing opportunities for growth, fun and fellowship? For me, the rewards of being part of HAPEN - and by extension, the Federation of Houston Professional Women (FHPW) and the Houston Area Council of ABWA (HACA) - far offset the time spent preparing for and attending a meeting.
A number of us are involved in planning District II's Conference in The Woodlands, March 19-20th and it looks like HAPEN will be well represented with attendees. These two programs alone - "The Power of Pause: Better Ways to Lead Your Business and Your Life in a 24/7 World" and "Coaching, Mentoring and Team-Building" - are reason enough to send in your registration. Go to http://www.abwa.org/ and click on Upcoming Events to sign up.
Opportunities to honor active HAPEN members are coming soon! President-Elect Kerry McEniry will be soliciting your nominees for our network's Woman of the Year (WOY) to be honored at a luncheon presented by the Houston Area Council of ABWA, on June 12th. Selection of our Women of Excellence (WOE) for FHPW will follow along with our candidate for ABWA's Top Ten Business Woman of ABWA, a National honor. Be thinking of who you would like to nominate for each of these honors. As a past WOY and WOE, I can tell you the acknowledgement of your peers means a great deal and the Woman of the Year luncheon and the Woman of Excellence Gala are spectacular events.
We continue to "Celebrate our Successes" so let me know if you have a new success in your business or personal life. All of your HAPEN buddies want to acknowledge your accomplishments!
All the best,
Karen Grubbs, HAPEN President 2009/2010
