2009 - ANOTHER OUTSTANDING HAPEN Member is named to American Business Women's Association Top 10 Business Women in the United States!
DYANE MAGLIOLO
HAPEN member Dyane Magliolo, has been named as one of ABWA's Top 10 Business Women in the United States for 2009. HAPEN is so very proud of Dyane and this outstanding accomplishment. Dyane is the current Program Manager for the Mission Support Operations Contract for Cimarron, Inc. Her overall responsibility for Cimarron's part on the contract, includes managing 225 employees spread between Maintenance, Engineering, Operations and the Prairie View A&M University Storefront. Dyane supports the Mission Control Center ground operations and maintenance and engineering support for the Space Shuttle and Space Station Programs at the NASA Johnson Space Center. Needless, to say, Dyane's dedicated career spans 20 years in this field. Her personal goal of 2 - 5 years is to be promoted to Vice President at Cimarron while she is continue to pursue her Master's degree.
Dyane is a past District II Vice President of ABWA, sponsored 29 members in the association, attended 12 National Conferences and 25 Spring Conferences. She is Past President of League City Charter Chapter, Past President of Houston Area Coucil of ABWA and Charter Member of Houston Area Professional Express Network of ABWA.
2008 - A HAPEN member is named to American Business Women's Association Top 10 Business Women in the United States!
HAPEN's very own Christina Robinson-Grochett, was named as one of ABWA's Top 10 Business women in the United States. We are very proud of Christina. As Associate Campus Director at The University of Phoenix, Christina has achieved great sucess in her field and with The University of Phoenix. Her achievements and accomplishments were recognized when she was selected as one of ABWA's top 10. Christina is a resident of The Woodlands and a current member of HAPEN.

Minutes of the May 26, 2009 Membership Meeting - HAPEN
Meeting called to order at 6:25pm by President Susan Olson. Board of Directors present, Karen Grubbs, President-Elect; Myrleen Knott, Vice President of Finance; Jean Fletcher, Vice President of Administration; Sheri Parrack, Vice President of Communications; Cassandra Voutchas, Vice President of Programs; and Vice Presidents of Marketing, Arrangements - Carol Shepherd; Membership Karen Grubbs and Publicity, Kerry McEniry. President Olson announced the minutes of the March 24, 2009 meeting wee reviewed by the HAPEN Board and published on the HAPEN website. (The April meeting was cancelled due to bad weather in the Houston area and safety for the membership). President Olson asked if there were any correction to the minutes? There being none, she made a motion to accept the minutes as submitted and Cassandra Voutchas seconded. Minutes were approved by the membership. President Olson proceeded with the meeting with HAPEN business. Reminders of upcoming evevnt: June 6, 2009 Woman of the Year Luncheon honoring Carol Shepherd, HAPEN Woman of the Year.
Beth Caplan, Chair of the Nominating Committee presented the candidates for the 2009/2010 Board of Directors for HAPEN: Presidnet, Karen Grubbs; President-Elect, Kerry McEniry; Vice President Administration, Jean Fletcher; Vice President Finance, Carolyn Tucker Myers; Vice President of Communication, Sheri Parrack; Vice President of Programs, Ginny Alden; and Vice Presidents of Marketing, Arrangements, Sandra Hawke; Membership, Shantera Chatman; Publicity, Marylou Spoon. Beth moved that the list of officers be accepted with Sheri Parrack seconding. President Olson asked if there were any nominations from the floor. There being none, President Olson moved the nomination be closed. Ginny Alden seconded.
FHPW Business: Beth Caplan spoke concerning the current fundraising challenges facing the Federation of Houston Professional Women EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION and proposed that HAPEN, as a leading member organization, contribute $500 to the FHPW Educational Foundation scholarship fund. President Olson moved this be accepted and Susan Silverman seconded, however President-Elect Karen Grubbs requested to withdraw the motion in order that she could explain what the HAPEN board decided concernng this issue. President-Elect Grubbs moved that each member of HAPEN contribute $10 to the educational fund with the remainder of the $500 to be made up out of the organization's funds. Susan Silverman seconded the motion and the motion carried by the membership.
Karen Grubbs announced to the membership that Beth Caplan had been seleted as HAPEN'S Woman of Excellence for 2009. Beth will be honored at the Federation of Houston Professional Women's Gala on Saturday, September 19th. All HAPEN members and their guests are welcomed and encouraged to attend.
Cassandra Voutchas presented the speaker for the evening. Erik Swanson, Success Coach, who described the seminars that his organization conducts with special mention of the upcoming seminars in Houston. Erik offered 50% discount to HAPEN members and guests, in attendance, for these seminars. Erik was an excellent and positive presenter. An excellent time was had by all who attended.
Door Prizes for May 26, 2009
HAPEN member Cassandra Voutchas has been so very generous to donate numerous items to each HAPEN meeting. The HAPEN Board would like to thank Cassandra's generous spirit and her many donations to HAPEN. Cassandra donated FOUR (4) items to the May meeting, Necklace/earrings, beaded purse, tiny purse and a satin purse. The four (4) items were won by TWO (2) very luck winners, who purchased allot of tickets, Melanie Treadway and Myrleen Knott. Also, another HAPEN member, who donates to EVERY HAPEN meeting Carol Shepherd! What would HAPEN DO WITHOUT CASSANDRA AND CAROL? (LOL) Carol donated TWO (2) items, Wine/napkins and coffee cups. Those were won by Sandra Hawke and Kim Gebron. Sandra Hawke donated a Baby blanket/teddy bear, won by Karen Grubbs and Donna Chenault donated a Chocolate Bar that was won by Liz Tesch.
