2009 - ANOTHER OUTSTANDING HAPEN Member is named to American Business Women's Association Top 10 Business Women in the United States! 

 

DYANE MAGLIOLO

HAPEN member Dyane Magliolo, has been named as one of ABWA's Top 10 Business Women in the United States for 2009. HAPEN is so very proud of Dyane and this outstanding accomplishment. Dyane is the current Program Manager for the Mission Support Operations Contract for Cimarron, Inc. Her overall responsibility for Cimarron's part on the contract, includes managing 225 employees spread between Maintenance, Engineering, Operations and the Prairie View A&M University Storefront. Dyane supports the Mission Control Center ground operations and maintenance and engineering support for the Space Shuttle and Space Station Programs at the NASA Johnson Space Center. Needless, to say, Dyane's dedicated career spans 20 years in this field. Her personal goal of 2 - 5 years is to be promoted to Vice President at Cimarron while she is continue to pursue her Master's degree.

Dyane is a past District II Vice President of ABWA, sponsored 29 members in the association, attended 12 National Conferences and 25 Spring Conferences. She is Past President of League City Charter Chapter, Past President of Houston Area Coucil of ABWA and Charter Member of Houston Area Professional Express Network of ABWA.


 


2008 - A HAPEN member is named to American Business Women's Association Top 10 Business Women in the United States!

HAPEN's very own Christina Robinson-Grochett, was named as one of ABWA's Top 10 Business women in the United States.  We are very proud of Christina.  As Associate Campus Director at The University of Phoenix, Christina has achieved great sucess in her field and with The University of Phoenix.  Her achievements and accomplishments were recognized when she was selected as one of ABWA's top 10.  Christina is a resident of The Woodlands and a current member of HAPEN.

Minutes of Membership Meeting - Houston Area Professional Express Network 

The September 24, 2008 meeting was called to order at 6:20 by President Susan Olsen. All attending introduced themselves with HAPEN Board member including their board positions.

President Olsen called attendtion to HAPEN's lending library, available at every meeting. If you have a book or tape to lend, remember to attach your business card inside so that it can be returned.

Minutes of the August 26, 2008 meeting were emailed to the membership and published on the website. Dolores Grissom moved and Carol Shepherd seconded they be approved as printed and motion passed.

Sheri Parrack's hard work at updating HAPEN's website was applauded. It includeds our newsletter, compiled by Beth Caplan, whose efforts were also applauded. Credit card processing has been added on the website. Registering online for monthly meetings can now be handled in advance; this is encouraged to streamline meeting check-in and avoid any food service problem. Dues may also be paiod by the credit card method. Annual dues are $36 (prorated per month) plus $1.00 for processing fee, if paid by credit card.

President Olsen referred to the meeting agenda with details of future events. Gaylyn DeVine will be the 2009 Houston Area Council delegate for HAPEN. President Olsen stated one item not on the agenda was the ABWA National Conference, beginning Oct 1st; she stated you can still register and HAPEN has at least five (5) members attendfing.

Next month's speaker is Harold Mangum, President of The Memory Technologies Insitute. Mr. Mangum's topic is "A Trained Memory". Additional details are available on HAPEN's website and an e-flyer will be mailed for sharing.

President Olsen gave a happy announcement: HAPEN member Dyane Magliolo has been named one of ABWA's 2009 TOP TEN Business Women of ABWA! Dyane was presented with a beautiful bouquet of red roses. HAPEN is very proud of Dyane and her accomplishments!  Dyane will be honored at the ABWA National Conference in Covenington, Kentucky in October.

HAPEN Vice President of Programming, Cassandra Voutchas, introduced the evenings speaker, Shari Frisinger, President of CornerStone Strategies, LLC. Ms Frisinger presented an excellent presentation about communication, helping us to all understand how to give and hear clearer messages. The speaker was presented a gift, thanking her for her time and knowledge.

On a sad note, President Olsen reported the passing of former member Cheryl Norra Estes. HAPEN sent a beautiful stand of white carnations. Several HAPEN members attended the services. Cheryl was the member who invited our President to a HAPEN meeting.

An ABWA member from Tennessee, Kelly Kilpatrick, is in Houston for treatment at MD Anderson. Susan announced the HAPEN Board gave a Texas themed basked made by Carol Berger to Kelly. Please keep Kelly in your thoughts and prayers. President Olsen will update the membership by email.

Vice President of Marketing/Membership, Carol Shepherd was thanked by President Olsen for taking care of tonight's arrangements.
