2009 - OUTSTANDING HAPEN Member is named to American Business Women's Association TOP TEN Business Women in the United States! 

                                                     L. DYANE MAGLIOLO

HAPEN member Dyane Magliolo, has been named as one of ABWA's Top 10 Business Women in the United States for 2009. HAPEN is so very proud of Dyane and this outstanding accomplishment. Dyane is the current Program Manager for the Mission Support Operations Contract for Cimarron, Inc. Her overall responsibility for Cimarron's part on the contract, includes managing 225 employees spread between Maintenance, Engineering, Operations and the Prairie View A&M University Storefront. Dyane supports the Mission Control Center ground operations and maintenance and engineering support for the Space Shuttle and Space Station Programs at the NASA Johnson Space Center. Needless, to say, Dyane's dedicated career spans 20 years in this field. Her personal goal of 2 - 5 years is to be promoted to Vice President at Cimarron while she is continue to pursue her Master's degree.

Dyane is a past District II Vice President of ABWA, sponsored 29 members in the association, attended 12 National Conferences and 25 Spring Conferences. She is Past President of League City Charter Chapter, Past President of Houston Area Coucil of ABWA and Charter Member of Houston Area Professional Express Network of ABWA.

Houston Area Council Meeting Minutes - April 22, 2010, Delegate Repoprt Quarterly Meeting

The Houtson Area Council meeting was held at the Sheraton Four Points Memorial City Hotel located at 10655 Katy Freeway, Houston. Meeting was called to order by Chair, Ellen Caldwell-Ng at 6:05 PM.

After the Benediction and Pledge of Allegiance, the following were introduced. Past Council Chairs, Current & Past ABWA District II Vice Presidents, Past National Officers and  Forever National Top Ten Business Women of ABWA. Introduction of  vendors followed. It was also announced the San Jacinto Chapter of ABWA celebrated their 50th anniversary recently. Three members were introduced.

All Council Sponsors were recognized and awarded a Certificate of Appreciation.

Council Program Director, Sheri Parrack introduced speaker, Kelly Stallings. Kelly is an author, speaker and psychotherapist, as well as President of Fax. Kelly has written "Life is Mental: Think Thin to Live Thin".

Communication Officer, Tana Schmidt conducted the roll call. Following the roll call the January 28, 2010 minutes were approved by the Houston Area Council Delegates without change and filed as permanent HACA records.

Financial Officer, Debbie Holladay presented the Financial Report which was approved and it will be filed for audit.

Cynthia Qualia gave a short report on the 2010 District 11 Conference.

Bee Franks-Walker, Chair/Kim Gebron, Co-Chair gave the update on Woman of Distinction Luncheon. The them this year is "Powerful Women on the Move" Sponsors needed!! TOP TEN Candidates will also be honored this year.

Tara Cook, Chair of the Membership Networking Event handed out flyers for an extra event for HACA is holding on June 14, from 6-8 PM at Arcodoro Restaurant, 5000 Westheimer, at Post Oak, Houston. 77056. Cost is $10 with hors d' oeuvres and cash bar available. Don't forget your Business Cards! 

Vice Chair Gaylyn DeVine awarded awarded the Excellence in Acheievement to Fort Benbd Chapter of ABWA. 

Please MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! The next HACA meeting date has changed from our scheduled from our normal time frame to  WEDNESDAY November 3, to avoid any conflict with the ABWA National Conference in Chatanooga, Tennessee and our members who will be attending.       

It was announced that the Council Christmas party will be held on Friday, December 3. Followed by Suzette Peoples awarding campgin checks to to the candidates. 

Numerous doors were awarded.

Meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM.

Members Move Ahead

Myrleen Knott, Sheri Parrack and Connie Smith have been selected to the class of 2010 to Leadership Texas. Annually, there are 100 women leaders selected in the State of Texas to attend. Congratulations to three of HAPEN's members who will be attending Leadership Texas the year of 2010.  

Donna Chenault was recognized at the Houston Independent School District's, September 10, 2009 School Board meeting as HISD's October 2009 Employee of the Month! YEAH DONNA!! Donna received a beautiful plaque and certificate of "commendation for her meritorius service". Donna is certainly deserving of this outstanding recognition. Donna is a quite lady who is very giving. Congratulations to HAPEN member Donna Chenault!

Myrleen P. Knott  has been selected to serve as the Chair of The Rose Foundation Board of Directors, a 501(c)3. The Rose is Houston's leading 501(c)3 non-profit breast cancer organization providing mammography screening diagnosis, early accesses for treatment and support to all women, regardless of their ability to pay. Congratulations Myrleen!

Sheri L. Parrack and her staff of Texas Motor Transportation Consultants (TMTC) have once again had the honor of being selected one of the 2010 TOP 500 WOMAN-OWNED BUSINESS in the United States.  Sheri attributes her growth to God and the excellent staff of TMTC.
